Alzheimer's Treatment Curriculum
Subject:
Alzheimer's and Dementia Treatment

Pages:
24 pages
(12 double-sided sheets)

Description:
Alzheimer's Disease is a disease that results in the deterioration of brain cells - and therefore, a deterioration in cognitive capacity (including things such as memory). However, the brain is capable of growing new neurons (and connections between neurons) when we undergo mental and physical stimulation.
Alzheimer's Diseases is currently classified as an incurable disorder. The below curriculum is a challenge to that classification. It is a proposed treatment method that seeks to use mental and physical stimulation to either reinvigorate or replace decayed neural networks - restoring lucidity and independence to the patient.
If you are an individual whose loved one or friend is suffering from Alzheimer's, and you'd rather attempt a longshot potential treatment than do nothing: below is exactly what you are looking for. Even if you can't fully cure or treat the individual: you can TRY to. You can do your best for your loved one.

The Human Curriculum

Subject:
Human Life

Pages:
16 pages
(8 double-sided sheets,
16 single-sided sheets)

Description:
Life! Amiright?!
Concretely identifying a thing - be it something tangible, or a concept - allows us to have a much better understanding of it. This curriculum concretely identifies the concepts that we all experience over the course of a lifetime, and provides the necessary explanations needed to make the most of that understanding.

Baseline Curriculum
Subject:
General Education

Pages:
2 pages (1 double-sided sheet)

Description:
The Baseline Curriculum is a general purpose curriculum meant to be a browsing tool for those looking to expand their knowledge, but not in any particular way.
*This document updates over time. It is currently on "Volume 1".

Neuroscience Curriculum

Subject:
Neuroscience

Pages:
8 pages
(4 double-sided sheets)

Description:
Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system. The nervous system is the network of billions of neurons that connect the parts and systems of creatures (such as yourself) together via electrical signals. Neurons are the cells that transmit electricity throughout your body. Every thought, action, and important bodily function of a human being is tied in some way to the nervous system - more often directly than indirectly. The brain is hands-down the most important organ in the body, and the only one that will never be replaceable. Neurons are the cells that the brain depends on for sending these electrical signals. Wouldn't it be useful (if not fun and interesting) to learn how your own brain works? Seems like you could get more out of it if you knew its ins and outs. Do neuroscience justice and peep this curriculum if your fancy is tickled by cells that deal out electricity.
Geneticist's Curriculum
Subject:
Genetics

Pages:
10 pages
(5 double-sided sheets)

Description:
Genes are literally the codes to build life. Every genome of every living being on Earth is an encyclopedia of successful sequences. The classification of living beings is determined by the differing of a small clawful of volumes here-and-there (per classification). The subject of genetics explores the internal machinery that help craft a tangle of double-helixes into everything that Earthling bodies need…including the body itself. If you want to know the specifics of how life is made, the Geneticist’s Curriculum is some type of self-education whatnot that the humans have started using. Your mission – once again – is to obtain a copy of the Geneticist’s Curriculum and return to base immediately. We received your message and do not comprehend. If the curriculum is tethered to “Online Content”, abduct and bring the "Online Content" back to base by any means necessary. 28 Carrier vessels are reserved for the transfer of Online Content. Re-stationing request denied. Entertainment Requisition completion error: redo.

Particle Physicist's Curriculum

Subject:
Particle Physics

Pages:
10 pages
(5 double-sided sheets)

Description:
Particle Physics is the realm of science that studies the smallest things in the entire universe: particles...Well, actually waves. Everything on the smallest scale of the universe is in wave form. The contrary motion (and charge) of the waves to their environment create a "solid" barrier to penetrate. If you imagined a sphere of water casually floating in the air, then imagine sticking your hand into it; you'd expect the normal wet texture you feel whenever you submerge your hand in water - nothing to see there. But if you imagine that sphere of water spinning at a rate of thousands of times a second: you wouldn't stick your hand in, because the motion creates a "solid"-like barrier that would most certainly take your hand off. If two spinning spheres of water collided, they'd bounce off each other like two solid objects due to the barrier that the force of the movement (spinning) creates; or, they might merge into one big sphere; OR, their motions might be mutually disruptive and cause a splash of different spheres (or other shapes) in various directions.
Several particles at the smallest scale in the universe work in a (somewhat) similar manner. They are waves, but their motion gives them the mechanics of solid objects in many circumstances.

Particle physics is absolutely essential to understanding the way that the universe works. Particle Physics is the field of science that is going to give us interplanetary and interstellar drives for spaceships. Particle Physics is the science that leads us to the Theory of Everything (which is partially covered in this curriculum, by the way). If any of that seems intriguing to you...
Prisoner's Curriculum
Subject:
Utilizing your time in jail/prison to prepare for your ideal life upon release

Pages:

(1 double-sided sheet)

Description:
This curriculum's purpose is to aid those looking to change their life around - or recover from its temporary obstruction caused by incarceration.
*Feel free to appeal to as many detention facilities as possible to encourage them to print copies of this curriculum and leave them out and available for anyone wishing to view the content. This curriculum is condensed to one (double-sided) page for the convenience of the facilities that choose to print and/or distribute them.

World History Curriculum

Subject:
World History

Pages:
8 pages
(4 double-sided sheets)

Description:
History is the most important subject in determining why the world is the way it is today (at least as far as people and society are concerned). Every era, every continent, every evolutionary step, every known culture is covered in this curriculum...inevitably, if not currently, for that last one.
Here in the early days of The Upward Education, you may find that several of the curricula don’t yet have existing programs indexed for experience gaining. As more programs are known and networked, more will make it onto the curriculum. Since that is not currently the case, you get to enjoy some condensed wisdom in its stead.
Like all curricula, this one will refine over time. By the time any of you get through those mountains of courses, it ought to be where it needs to be.
